BICG was on the team behind our client ING Direct’s headline-making major transformation of its IT back-end, which expanded its successful virtualised ‘Bank-in-a-box’ test and development platform into its Ryde primary data centre in 2014. Recognising that it needed the ability to drive projects much faster, Bank-in-a-box was developed to streamline ING Direct’s core infrastructure by consolidating and simplifying multiple platforms into one; and will slash the cost of operating its data centres by 50 percent. Built on Cisco, NetApp and Microsoft Hyper V technology, the platform enables agile development and testing practices through a private cloud solution, simplifying the multiple systems holding up the bank’s backend.

 

OUTCOME

Automated Business Objects Report checks were set up using Business Objects Restful web services an BICG further developed the Virtual Machine Cube fail-over solution for the Microsoft Analysis Services. We next developed custom workflow modules in Java accessing the BO Java Restful SDK to extract the CMC document objects and queries for automated comparison checks. The successful project made the news, attracting media and business attention for ING Direct’s innovation and forward-thinking strategy ( click for link1 and click for link2). ING Direct has dramatically reduced the time needed for a full version of its supported program from 3 months down to an incredible 10 minutes and has virtually eliminated the 6-8 weeks that were previously required to provision an environment.
